Since the signing of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) in 1970, and the passage of the Minnesota Environmental Policy Act (MEPA), environmental review has played a larger role in projects. Today, the assessment of environmental impacts has become a primary part of the planning process. The Minnesota Environmental Quality Board (EQB) performs an important role to ensure proposed environmental impacts are reviewed.
